When it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, an individual needs to maintain a healthy routine that includes a good workout routine and a healthy diet. Today, we want to look into the 5 elements of fitness training you need to be aware of.
These 5 elements of physical fitness are commonly used in educational systems, health clubs, and fitness centers to determine how fit you are. These 5 elements that we will be discussing in further detail moving forward are Cardiovascular endurance, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.
The 5 Elements Of Fitness Training
By achieving an adequate level of fitness in all 5 elements is important to good health. These fitness elements rely on the good functioning of an individual’s heart, lungs, and blood vessels to transport oxygen to the tissues and carry away metabolic waste products.
Proper fitness levels of an individual can be defined by looking into how well the person’s body performs in each of the 5 elements. This means it is not enough for an individual to be able to lift weights. It is a must to also look into how well the individual handles running a meter etc.
Now that we’ve given you an idea about what fitness training refers to, it’s time to jump right into the 5 elements in more detail.
Why is muscular strength important? Well, it is one of the most important parts of an individual’s body. This part is responsible for helping a person move or lift things that are part of their daily life routine. Muscular strength refers to the amount of weight you can lift or force you can put out. One common method of testing this element is the push-up test.
This refers to the ability of an individual’s heart and lungs to function together to provide the right level of needed oxygen and energy to the body when it comes to sustaining workloads. For instance, the amount of oxygen provided by the lungs and heart during a normal walk and a jog would be different. One great way to test this element is through the Cooper Run test.
This is the ability of the muscles in one’s body to function repeatedly and continuously without fatigue. Some good examples of muscular endurance workouts include cycling and elliptical machines. One good way to test this element is by the sit-up test.
This refers to each joint’s ability to follow and move through a motion that is according to the specific joints range and movement availability. A common example of this element would be stretching. A great way to test an individual’s flexibility is through the sit and reach test.
In fitness training, body composition is an element that people use to determine the percentage of fat, bone, water, and muscle in an individual. Since the muscular tissues in a person take up less space in the person’s body than fat tissues, body composition, along with weight, determine leanness. One way to measure body composition is through underwater weighing.
